If you have an old scanner which only allows you to scan in one page of a document at a time, so that you then have to combine the pages together into a single PDF as a separate operation, you should use PDF software to combine the pages before loading the document to your document management system.
Some document management systems (such as Bundledocs) have their own "merge" facility which would allow, for example, each page of a two-page document to be loaded separately and then be combined into a single PDF document using the system's "merge" function. However if this function is used, whilst the document appears when displayed in the system to have two pages, if, subsequently, a ZIP file of original documents is generated, one or other of those pages may be missing from the ZIP file.
To avoid this problem you should not use a document management system's "merge" facility. Instead, if it is necessary to combine pages into a single document, this should be done before loading.
If you have already used your document management system's "merge" facility, and if you now wish to generate a ZIP file of original documents and intend to include in the ZIP file one of the documents which you previously used "merge" on, you should do the following. Before generating the ZIP file, download the affected document in PDF form (so that the downloaded copy includes all pages) and then load it as a replacement so that the complete document, with all its pages, then becomes an "original" document within the system so that, when subsequently included in a generated ZIP file, it will contain all its pages.
