John Antell specialises in contractual disputes, particularly those involving information technology, engineering and construction. In addition to that speciality for which he travels throughout England, he has a broad common law practice centred on the Western Circuit.

Prior to coming to the Bar he worked as a chartered engineer and he has a particular interest in disputes involving complex technical issues ranging from the functions provided by IT software to the throughput of manufacturing plant under different operating conditions, as well as in more conventional building disputes.

Some of his work involves specialised areas of data protection, employment, employer’s liability, and tax, which are of particular importance in the IT, engineering and constructions industries, including the Employment Agencies regulations, TUPE, PAYE, IR35 and CIS.
