Every barrister has certain areas which they specialise in, usually within one of the three broad types of law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, and Family Law. I practise in Civil Law concentrating on the following areas of Freehold Land Law
Adverse possession – i.e. claims to be entitled to own land by reason of simple possession over a long period of time.
“Easements” - i.e. claims to limited rights over other people people’s land, such as rights of way, and rights to lay pipes to provide services, drainage etc.
Restrictive Covenants - i.e. claims that a land-owner is prevented from carrying out developments because of a covenant in a past conveyance.
